Amber loves her horsie.

Christmas Dinner at Grandma's House

Mom and Dad invited the neighbors over for Christmas dinner, Us and the Smith's. It was beautiful. Mom really went all out. We had a great evening and then hung around visiting all night. What a great way to end the day.

Santa visited the Steens

We had a great Christmas morning. Everyone was happy with what they got. Amber's main Santa gift was a video/camera/mp3/voice recorder.
Lacey got a snowboard and a skateboard. She also got a Dragon Speaks program for the computer to help her with her school work. Her dyslexia is so bad that her teachers recommended this program.
Sage, yes she went right back to sleep, got a new cell phone. She is very excited. She also got new luggage. It's green. Very easy to see at the luggage claim.
Bentley is our spoiled pup. He had a bast tearing up all the wrapping paper and eating his goodies. He has to share with Andy though.
Well we are all being lazy now. Grandma is having a big Christmas dinner at her house tonight so there will be more pictures to post later.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Christmas Eve!

Grandma and Grandpa came over and we ate all the good Christmas munchies. Cheese dip, Oysters, Crackers, Shrimp Dip, lil smokies, hot rolls, smoked turkey, taquitos, etc.
Then we watched a video "the Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott. Santa knocked on the window but Lacey wasn't fast enough to catch him. We had Christmas carolers that showed up and they sang so good. Grandma and I were both crying because we missed the family. We opened our PJ presents and put them on. Grandpa read the Christmas story from the bible by the fire. Then we went to bed. It was such a special night.

Daycare Christmas Party

We had a Christmas Party at daycare yesterday, I thought it wasn't fair that the big kids get a party and my sweet 2 year olds didn't.
We invited Melissa and her daughter Eliza to come. Melissa is my back up babysitter and she brings her daughter Eliza when she babysits for me.
We ate lots of goodies and snacks. Cookies, candy and cool juice bottles. They are really cool sippy cups.
Then we played Elefun game. Its an elephant that blows butterflies out his nose so the kids can catch them in their nets. They squealed and laughed and had a blast.
Then it was over and it was naptime. I was worn out!!!

A Christmas Story

Everyones favorite Christmas movie "A Christmas Story" has come to visit the Steen family. Yes the famous "Major Award Leg Lamp" is a new addition to our family thanks to the generous gifting practices of the Bump Williams family. WE LOVE IT! Marty keeps it in the front window. When I move it to the bookcase or a shelf he moves it right back to the front window. It's a hoot and everyone laughs when they see it. Thanks Erin & Bump. We love it.

Sage is home!!!!

We picked up Sage in Chicago Saturday night. Her plane came in at midnight. It was snowing so hard it took us an hour to drive the 12 miles to the airport from the hotel we were staying at. We were really suprised that a plane could land in all that snow. Sage said the landing was a little bumpy but she was right on time.
Thank you so much Tracy and Steve for sending her. It is the best Christmas present ever. It already feels like she never left, except she is so cheerful and happy. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Lacey's Christmas program

Last night was the elementary school christmas program. Lacey's last, next year she will be in jr high.
It was alot of fun, but I must confess I miss the Joseph Smith Academy. I hope they build a new building for things like this. We really couldn't hear good. We were really spoiled by the programs at the JSA.

Mom's Bathroom

As you know Marty has been helping mom and dad build a bathroom in the basement. Here is a picture of how the laundryroom looks now. If anything there is more room in there. The batheroom is where all of the old shelving use to be.
I think mom and dad are working themselves to death trying to get it done for Christmas. This picture showes where the bathroom door is in the bedroom.
Marty has really enjoyed working with them. When Marty stays busy he is very happy and Marty has been in a great mood all month. It's looking great and moving along pretty quickly considering how busy everyone is.

Lacey turns 13

Lacey turned 13 on the 5th. She celebrated by having a weekday sleepover (we won't do that again) They convinced us to let them because they needed to get these big book report boxed done and decorated. They got them done but I think they ended up going to sleep at 3am.
Lacey's friends call her Ell, so I wrote that on the cake and she was so happy. I am such a cool mom. We ate pizza and drank soda pop until we were ready to pop.
Then out came the cake and the girls smashed it into her face. I ended up cleaning red frosting off of everything because it all turned into a big food fight.
Lacey was so happy. I think it was one of her best parties ever. I don't understand it but if it makes her happy....

Working on Mom's new bathroom

since Thanksgiving Marty and Dad have been working on Mom's bathroom. They had to break a hole in the floor and then dig a hole deep enough for this pump. It took a few days and alot of back breaking hauling to carry all the broken pieces of concrete and dirt outta there, but they look pretty happy with the results.

Christmas is coming

My girls have so much attitude I am not sure if Santa will be coming this year. I'm just kidding. all is well here in Nauvoo. We are counting the days down until sage will be with us. YEA!!!
