Twilight Movie

Our Thanksgiving tradition is to go see a movie as a family. Last year it was "Enchanted" this year we chose "Twilight". I had NO EXPECTATIONS because first I know that the movie is NEVER as good as the book. Second everyone who I had talked to told me they hated it. So I went expecting the worst and....I loved it. I guess I just have bad taste or something but I thought they did a pretty good job sticking to the story line and the characters seemed pretty close to what I expected they should be like. Lacey who has never read the books was so impressed she came home and started reading the second book because she wants to know what happens next.....needless to say we had a great time at the movies. It was a fun thanksgiving day to the end.

Happy Thanksgiving

The Turkey turned out great! We had Mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and Pumpkin Pie.

The girls put up our Christmas Lights and Marty dug out all of the Christmas decorations so we will have the tree up before this weekend is over.

This year was kind of a lazy Thanksgiving. We watched movies and lazied around the house. The best part is just being together as a family.

Lacey's New Do

Lacey is turning 14 on December 5th so for her birthday her dad told her she could get her hair done. Shani at "Winning Looks" did a great job of doing exactly what Lacey wanted and all of Laceys friends think it is super cool.

We have a new Grandson!

Chelsi and Jason had their new baby yesterday. His name is Landen Jason Hollobaugh. He was born at 9am yesterday morning and he weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. Chelsi is doing fine. They sent us this picture via cell phone so we are waiting anxiously for more pictures. We will post them as soon as they come. This makes 5 grand babies. 4 boys and 1 girl.

President Steen

Marty was set appart today as the President of the Elders Quorum in the Nauvoo 1st ward, Nauvoo Illinois Stake. He was called a few weeks ago and has been working hard to learn as much as he can about this calling in the church and to choose his counselors.
Here is our new Elders Quorum Presidency. Paul Childs 2nd counselor, Marty Steen President, and Jacob Layton 1st counselor. They seem really excited to serve and I think they are going to get along great together.

My Hair

I dyed my hair brown about a week ago and I promise to show my family how it turned out. I think this is pretty close to my natural color. I've always been blond and I have highlighted my hair forever to keep it as close to blond as I can. I am on a budget and I can't afford the up keep. Mostly people don't even notice.
I wear it in a braid most of the time. I don't get headaches and it stays out of my face. I look like this most of the time.

This is what I look like when I am TRYING for a picture...blech! Oh well this is my brown hair. I am getting use to it...I think I really like it. My kids say they love it so that is a good sign. Marty would prefer a platinum blond like Marylin Monroe but that will NEVER happen. lol

Cleaning up the leaves

For Family Home Evening we tried to clean up the yard. We did this just over a week ago and it looks terrible again. We started at 4pm and had to quit when it got dark at 6.

It rained all day Tuesday. Hopefully it won't rain on the weekend and we can get it all ready for winter. Raking leaves is fun but we need more TIME!

I'm Tired!

We are just getting done with shut down at the Nauvoo Temple. I clean at night and I have to say I really love it. This last week I have been working 8 hour shifts just to get all of the detailing done. It looks beautiful but I am SO TIRED! : ) I still love it and I can't wait for the temple to open on Tuesday. Last night we had over 50 volunteers come help. They use to have volunteers every night but now there are only two nights that we can have people come in. I was glad that the people who came were not here to get a peek at the temple but were here to work. It sure helped us out! There is so much to do and two weeks goes by real quick. They refinished all the handrails and benches, touch up paint clean carpets...too much to mention. Tonight is the Last night and I am sure we will get it all done. I am going to really enjou having Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off. Well except I have a Stake Primary leadership meeting on Saturday, and Sunday is Meetings, and Monday is Daycare....well maybe not off but less. LOL I love my life!!

It's a dogs life.

These are the usual sleeping arrangements at the Steen's house. Harry sleeps on the bench, on whatever I happen to leave lying about. I guess he just wants to be close to me any way he can. Sigh...oh the love. lol
If Bently isn't under the bench sleeping or under the blanket, he is sprawled out on his back on Marty's side of the bed. lol Yes he sleeps on his back if he is on the bed. lol
