My Cousins are in town!!!

So Janice and Sherilyn have been in town for a week now and I have only seen them in passing except when Janice did my toes. I hurried over yesterday early so I could see Janice before she left and the house was quiet. Everyone was still asleep. I went back a bit later and found that Janice had gotten sick the night before so they stayed most of the rest of the day. I actually had time to hang out with them. Yay!! Janice was feeling better and they left last night. Thanks to the "Nauvoo Gamboo" (what we call ever bug you catch here) I got to hang with Janice for a few hours before she had to head for home.
Janice and Matt. Aren't they cute!!

Sherilyn and her family will be here for another week so I'll have more time to see them.

Jamie the bus driver.

Mom was teasing me because I have been driving a bus since school started and I haven't blogged about it yet. She didn't even know I was doing it.
Yes, I am a bus driver. Well its a little bus and I don't have to have a special license to drive it but I am still a bus driver. :) I pick up the kids in town for early bird chorus and drive them to Warsaw. At night I pick up for Volleyball, Football and Golf. I even got to drive the Jr High basketball team to the tournament in La harpe. (Lacey's team) Play practice just started so I get to pick them up sometimes too. I LIKE it!!

Warsaw High School 2009 Homecoming Royalty

Amber Steen and Cody Allen!!!!
The best part about that is they are both Nauvoo-Colusa students and they are two of the nicest kids you could ever meet.

It just show how well the transition of combining the two schools went and how well the kids really do get along with each other.

What a fun way to start Ambers Senior year.

It was such a fun night. It really surprised all of us when she won, but we were really excited!!

Josh went out with a candidate and came home wit the "HOMECOMING QUEEN" :)

Homecoming Date

Amber is off to Homecoming with Josh Adams. Marty and I are going over to the dance to see the crowning of the royalty. :) I will post as soon as I know the results.

Warsaw High School Homecoming 2009

It was homecoming week this week and Amber spent a lot of time on her crazy ensembles. The first day the seniors wore green.

Another day they dressed like cowboys. I wish I had a picture from spirit day. She looked crazy cute but alas I have no proof.

On the way to the homecoming parade in Warsaw we had a blowout on our van so Marty hitched us a ride with the Adams and we made it just in time for the parade.

Amber is a Homecoming Queen candidate so we were excited to go see her in the parade.

Because of our late arrival we had a really bad location for photo's but hey at least we got a few.

Then at the football game later that evening they announced all of the homecoming candidates.

It has been really fun!! Tonight we get to go to Hamilton High School for the crowning and then they will have their homecoming dance. It's at Hamilton because Hamilton and Warsaw/Nauvoo all play football together so they decided to combined the dance. (they all go to both dances anyway)

I've been "Janiced" !!!!!

Janice loves me so much she drove all the way across the country from Everett, Washington to Nauvoo Illinois just to PAINT MY TOES!!! lol
Janice and Sherilyn are here in Nauvoo with their cute families visiting their mom and dad, Lynn and Sharon. Amber and I are reaping the benefits!! I got my toes done. Amber is getting her nails and toes done just in time for the homecoming dance tonight. YAY!!!!!

"The Killers" visit Nauvoo

I don't know how many people know but Brandon Flowers of the music group "the Killers" visited Nauvoo Monday and Tuesday. How do I know this? Because Amanda Mathews and Amy Andrus took him and his friends to the movie "All about Steve" in Keokuk. They wanted to go but were stranded as their driver needed sleep and there is no car rental or theater here in Nauvoo. :) Why do I care? Because I LOVE THE KILLERS!!! I so bad wanted to go see him but I would not embarrass my children by being an over 40 groupie/stalker so I kept my distance and waited until they left town to post this. I have to admit that when I went on my walk with Melissa Tuesday morning I went a little off the usual path and walked right past their tour bus hoping to catch a peek. No luck. :) It was still fun to know they camped the night in our little state park camp ground. Cool huh!!! I thought so.

Reduce Reuse Recycle

Tom and Melissa Adams gave us a whole bunch of lumber that use to be a deck and fence around the swimming pool they bought last year. They decided not to use it and asked if we wanted it. We sure did!!! There was a lot of good wood there. Saturday after we cleaned the church and watched the girls play mud volleyball for a while, we decided to build a deck. Nothing like free lumber and a shed full of left over supplies to make a project come alive!! I am so excited. Here is the beginnings of our free deck!!

Nauvoo Grape Festival 2009

We always have a lot of fun at the Nauvoo Grape festival. The girls were in the mud volleyball again this year and ewww!! Marty chaperoned the teen tent and tomorrow we will do our annual volunteer clean up of the state park and through town. After that there will be a traditional potluck at our house at 2:00 pm. I will take pictures and post them as soon as I can. Hope everyone will come. :)

The Possum

When Marty took the trash out to the road this morning he saw a possum sitting in the can amongst the garbage. He was in a hurry so he just dragged the can out to the road and hoped the thing would climb out when he was alone.
I walked passed the can a few times this morning and I couldn't see it in there so I hoped the same thing that it had climbed out when things quieted down.
Well I guess he just settled down in the trash to sleep the day away because when the garbage men came they got excited because they saw an extension chord that had been tossed because Lacey hit it with the lawn mower. Then there was a loud shout because the possum decided at that moment to wake up. It was the funniest thing watching those two guys trying to get that possum out of the back of the truck. When they finally did I was shocked!!! It was huge!!! It was bigger than our dogs. I have no idea how I could not see it in there. It must have burrowed clear to the bottom of the can. It waddled across the road and down the street. :) Maybe it will visit someone elses can next time. lol It really was funny.
