I got a phone call today from Chris Vanocur of ABC news in Salt Lake City. It was a fun little phone interview that I didn't think much about after I had called Marty and a few friends to laugh about. Tonight while getting ready for bed Martys Mom called and said she had just seen my interview on the 10 o'clock new. Wow! That was very cool. I am not sure how interesting my blog is but I am very flattered.
NAUVOO, Ill. (ABC 4 News) - As the waters of the midwest continue to rise, Mormons all over the world are keeping a close eye on the threatened town of Nauvoo, Illinois. And thanks to the internet, the Mississippi is just a click away.Because the Steen family of Nauvoo keeps a blog, Mormons all over the world and the internet can keep tabs on the city Smith founded.Jamie Steen told ABC 4, "It's sad. Up river and down river there's been a lot of damage and a lot of farmers have lost their crops, haven't been able to plant or have lost the stuff they've already planted cause of all the rain."Jamie Steen's family has taken a number of Nauvoo flooding photos. She says while the rising waters have been a concern to this historic LDS town, she is hopeful these Mormon landmarks will be spared. It's all thanks in part to a community-wide effort.Jamie Steen, Nauvoo resident said, "It's huge. They had a big stake meeting here…and they announced that they needed people to come to do some sandbagging."In fact, hundreds of Mormons all over the mid-west have been sand-bagging, digging out and distributing cleaning kits. And that's what this small, close-knit community does.So says Latter-Day blogger Jamie Steen.Jamie Steen says, "I don't think there's a family here that hasn't spent hours trying to help the different communities with their sandbagging efforts. So, we've been pretty busy."And to see the Nauvoo flooding photos taken by the Steen family, go their blog at http://theamazingsteens.blogspot.com/.

I enjoyed your blog and what's happening in the Nauvoo area. Our good friends, President & Sister Erickson, are serving as Mission President of the Peoria, Illinois mission. It was nice that one of your pictures was of President Erickson. If you ever see them, tell them hello from the Whites from West Valley City!
