This is a museum in Ft Madison, Iowa
It is hard to know what is going on even this close to the flooding. The river was supposed to crest on Wednesday and then it changed to Thursday and then Friday. With a few of the Levee's breaking up river it has slowed things down a bit and according to our local News KHQA it sounds like today was the day for our area.
The reports we're getting from Lee County Thursday morning are good. Lee County ESDA Director Steve Cirinna told us the Mississippi was expected to crest in Burlington by 7 a.m. Thursday morning. Ft. Madison should see its crest about 6 hours later and it should crest in Keokuk by 7 p.m. Thursday night.
-----
Crews are treating boils that have appeared on the levee in Keokuk and in the Green Bay Bottoms. The Fort Madison bridge is open to traffic, one vehicle at a time. Workers with the Iowa Department of Transportation are directing traffic on and off the bridge. The Keokuk-Hamilton bridge is open. Representatives from FEMA and the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Unit are in the area assessing damage and working on securing a federal disaster declaration for Lee County.

The bridges seem to be open and I found the current water levels as of 4:16pm on 6-19-08.
Burlington (current) 25.16 (6-16-08) 24.20

You're all in our prayers! Thanks for keeping us posted about the flooding and for the pictures. My mom and I attended a Barlow reunion in Nauvoo almost two years ago and went through many of these places which are being flooded - we're just so sorry this is happening.
I saw your blog on ABC4 news and I'm grateful to you for showing us the images of the church sites. We've wondered about them and are glad to know they are okay. Thanks again!
